Technology Provider for Rural Communities
ekgaon technologies is a technology and management company believing in ideal of community centered development. In line with its philosophy ekgaon has been working over several year with community groups across south asia for enabling development process and building systems for increasing efficiency of community enterprises. ekgaon in partnership with Community Enterprise Forum International (CEFI) has formed a consortium viz. Community Enterprise Consortium (CEC) for enabling support for rural enterprises and helping build economies of scale by efficiently using information technology and building management system centered around grassroots communities. Through this partnership process CEC has taken up development of capacities and enabling supply chains and producers owned enterprises in identified areas such as medicinal, aromatic and dye plants, microfinance, ICT enabled services, fisheries, community based tourism and energy. ekgaon has partnered with CEFI in its initiatives to bring communities in the core of development planning. ekgaon works with community groups in identifying requirements and take up knowledge development exercises to draw specifications of management and technology interventions. As part of its efforts to bring other stakeholders to share experiences and understanding it has initiated “Learning Workshop Series (LWS)” to looks into requirements, technology and management systems from community perspective. As part of the LWS – 2005 it organized a south asia workshop on “MIS for Community Based Financial Institutions – Innovations & Experiences” in Tamil Nadu India for evolving understanding on information system requirements of community based financial institutions. ekgaon was recently awarded the PanAsia ICT Award.
